LOCAL DELIVERY DRIVER (OSHAKATI DEPOT) – FP du Toit Transport Group
DESCRIPTION
The above-mentioned position is vacant at our Pro Parcel – Oshakati Depot. The FP du Toit Transport
Group is in existence since 1968 and diversified over time from a solely long-haul operation to one which
now includes Pro Parcel (a part-load and distribution operation), Jet.X Couriers (an express road and air
courier service) as well as Wesbank Transport (a full-load and abnormal division). This is in line with our
strategy to offer our clients a complete range of services to satisfy all their logistical requirements. This
position reports to the Depot Manager and is based in Oshakati.
Key responsibilities include:
Ensure safe and secure, handling, loading and off- loading of consignments
Ensure safe and secure movement of freight
Ensure consignments are off-loaded on route (where applicable and when approved), in a safe and
secure area and handed over to the authorized consignee/depot/controller/any other authorized
Handling of fuel management and ensuring all procedures regarding refuelling.
Adhere to health and safety regulations of the company and client’s sites
Adhere to road safety regulations
Adhere to security measures, including unpacking, inspections, quality checks, etc
Be present at time of loading in order to verify the freight loaded to the paperwork received
Basic vehicle checks/maintenance daily (oil, water, tyres, etc)
Notify Supervisor/Manager of any defaults/problems on the vehicles
Ensure all fragile/fridge-line/high value consignments are handled/loaded correctly
Any other duties in line with the responsibilities of a Local Delivery Driver
The suitable applicant will have
A valid Grade 10/12 (with at least 23 points)
2-5 years’ applied experience
Valid applicable Code C Driver’s License with valid PDP
CE Driver’s License will be a distinct advantage
Police clearance certificate (not older than 3 months) – No criminal record
Must be efficient in terms of on time freight delivery, without shortages/breakages
Must be technologically literate, i.e. be able to handle any smart device/app
Attention to detail
Good problem-solving skills
Customer focused, presentable and good communication skills
Sober habits
Namibian Citizenship
